Farewell

With much sadness, and admittedly even more relief, I've decided to end Feathers & Freckles.

When I started this blog, I told myself I'd quit the moment it stopped being rewarding and fun. I've slowly felt more and more burdened by my blog, and I'm sad (and proud!) to admit that I've outgrown it. I'll always thrift, craft, take photos, and get dressed - but I'd like to get back to just enjoying those things.

I never like to 'quit' anything without reflecting on why I started. I started Feathers & Freckles as a way to fine-tune my style and make myself more confident and excited about getting dressed. It's done just that and more. In the end though, clothing and fashion have never been a very important part of my life and I don't want them to become that.

I've learned a lot over the past two years, and I've loved interacting with people from all over the world with similar interests and senses of humor. Thank you for your support, feedback, and sweet words. It's been a pleasure getting to know you and letting you get to know me, and if you'd like to keep in touch please feel free to email me! Also, I could never give up Instagram, so if you want to keep up with my life & thrift finds, you can always find me there.

Thanks for a fun ride!

  33. Parting is such sweet sorrow...Didn't Bard say it best. I'll miss your sweet ramble the most Megan. Feathers & Freckles in my inbox always made my morning! I applaud you for not taking yourself too seriously, for sharing the real you, and let's not forget your super-duper DIY's. Your DIY posts were always done with such care and attention...And, I actually did them!! The decision to retire the blog I can live with. It's the farewell that actually tears me up. But! I get it, I really, really do get it!!!

Definitely feel free to email me anytime, and I will continue to post on Instagram :) It's been a pleasure getting to know you and following your beautiful style. 136. I feel like this came out of left field. I have been following your blog for many months and though I don't comment a lot, I will miss you sorely. You photos have always been so polished and beautiful and I will miss seeing new stuff from you. Maybe you'll come back :(

  137. I am so sad you are no longer blogging, but I get it. It should be fun and kudos to you for seeing that and choosing what is good for you. I will miss reading your posts though. Please keep your old posts up. I love the tutorials and looking at past years in the same season for ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thanks for your sweet words, Merebear. You should have commented more, because I love interacting with my readers! I'm very sorry you feel like this came out of left field, but I wasn't sure what other way to do it. I didn't want to talk in my posts about feeling burnt out, and when I finally reached the point that I knew it was time to make the decision to quit, I did. It's a bit sad, and I will miss blogging, but I had to follow my instincts. And, who knows, I may return to blogging at some point down the road! Right now, I'd like to put aside more time for myself that the blog has been cutting into. And you can always email me if you want to keep in touch :)

  139. Thanks for being so understanding, Andrea! It was a sad decision, and very difficult to face the realization that blogging may no longer be a good fit in my life. I had to follow my instincts :) I hadn't really thought about fully taking my blog down, so please feel free to continue to peruse the archives! If you have any questions or want to keep in touch, I'm always just an email or Instagram photo away :)

I haven't been really regular lately simply because of time (or lack therof!), but I've always loved reading your blog and seeing your fabulous outfits and your beautiful face. I wish you the very best as you move forward with life! Good for you in knowing when and being brave enough to quit when it just isn't fun any more. Blogs should definitely be fun for the blogger, first and foremost! And how did I not know you had instagram? Stalking it now.

Sooo...totally late to this party and for that I apologize. I just wanted to leave you a note Megan and tell you 1) how awesome it is that you made this decision 2) I will miss your blog. I've always thought your site was so fun and real...just as everyone here says, you have a wonderful personality that really comes through in your writing. So I already follow you on Instagram...so we'll always have that :)

  178. I've been wanting to leave a goodbye note. I was surprised when I read this summer you stopped blogging "all of a sudden" but I guess I have to get used to it because all the bloggers I follow will eventually stop one day ! (just like good tv shows, there's an end !)
I loved your blog because it was simple and you are so cute and funny. If one day you come to Paris, visit me and we can go thrift shopping and to many other places together !
    Have a great life

  179. Just wanted to drop a note to tell you that I was in a thrift shop yesterday (nothing new about that) and I most definitely followed a girl (my size, similar taste in clothes) straight to the return rack when she left the dressing room. My friends thought it was totally creepy, but I knew you'd understand (and I scored a sweet wool sweater dress, so there). Miss reading your blog, but thinking about your thrift habits always makes me smile.
