Thrifted skirt, Forever 21 topShop Ethereal necklace c/o, Madewell tote, Jeffrey Campbell wedges

Last week I did something totally out of character... I went into Forever 21 and left with a crop top. This was then followed by doing something totally in character... going home and asking myself why I just bought a crop top from Forever 21.

I'm definitely warming up to it, but I'm still a little weird about exposing my belly button in public and if it shrinks any shorter I'll be passing it down to my cat. So, I just have to avoid any situation that requires I lift my arms and I can never wash it.

  1. I think it's a really cute top on you! And it looks like it's long enough to tuck it in if you're feeling a little more shy. Love the colors in it!

  2. What a cute tribal print and I love the back cut out! I saw SO many crop tops when I was in F21 but I'm still iffy about the trend too.

  3. Is this the crop top? Because if it is I actually don't mind it because it's not too cropped:) Love the print!

  4. It is so cute! That print is really cool. When I go to F21, I can't get past the jewelry. All the clothing racks intimidate me!

  5. It is a cute top! I bought one in Feb and haven't worked up the courage to wear it! I don't know if its the exposing my belly. belly button or that I'm so pale that intimidates me....

  6. I feel the same way about crop tops...i don't know if i'll ever get one simply because i will never get used to walking around like that...and i'm much to pale.

  8. ooh so glad you took a chance on this top because it looks great on you. I'm not a fan of showing more than an inch or two of midriff so this outfit is right up my ally.

  13. I've never been much for crops, but this one is pretty cute! I'd put it over a dress or something too, then I know I would expose my mid-section!

  23. Ugh, this crop top trend is killing me. So many cute ones, but I don't dare expose my belly in public. So most of the time I buy not-so-cropped crop tops and layer them or wear them with other pieces that make them look uncropped. Sigh. This one is totally cute, though! Love the pattern.

  26. I'm in the same boat! I get nervous with crop tops because they look good in my mind, until I put one on and realize that I'm too awkward to show my midriff. I think you should try it though! It'll probably inspire me to do the same!

    Have a great day!

  33. It's soooo cute! I love the pattern & it looks great with that skirt. I know what you mean though. My teenage step daughter is allllll about the crop tops but we're talking the one that barely get passed your boobs & I can't tell you how much I HATE it. But this, this is a classy crop top. (Did I just say something from F21 is classy?)

  34. I had to go back and look at this shirt to make sure it was the one you were talking about - you can baaaarely see your tummy. Which is probably the best kind of crop top! I have kind of been wanting one myself, but I have no idea where I would wear it so I haven't pulled the trigger yet! Good for you - you look cute!

  35. I love the way you styled it! So classy and fun!

  36. I think this is great! You styled this top in a really sophisticated, age-appropriate way. Most girls end up looking like thirteen-year-olds when they wear Forever 21. I love it on you... the colors are perfect.

  39. Hahaha...I had a similar experience when looking for a top for my high waisted skirt. I went into Forever 21 and bought an 80's style crop top. Then I got home and realized I was crazy and returned it...haha. But I like yours a lot better. It looks great on you!
