A fellow redhead (hi Cara!) recently asked about my makeup routine so I thought I'd share. It's not very exciting - simple and natural is my goal. I try to keep my whole routine under 5 minutes.
Here are the goods:
1 - Lavanila Facial Sunscreen
2 - Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain
3 - Nars Blush in Luster
4 - Benefit Brow Zing in Light
5 - Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Brown Copper
6 - Smashbox Eye Shadow Trio (Nectar, Cinnamon Toast, and Roast)
7 - Covergirl LastBlast Mascara in Black-Brown
8 - Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Tiger Lily
I start by washing my face with the Clarisonic Mia and then applying sunscreen.

To even out my skin tone, I apply tinted moisturizer all over my face with a round sponge.
Then I add a little blush to the apples of my cheeks.

Then I fill in my brows with a brow gel.

I apply a thin line of eyeliner, brush Nectar all over my lids and Cinnamon Toast on the base, then apply mascara. I don't like wearing a lot of eye makeup during the day, so I keep it really light.
I apply Burt's Bees Tinted Balm (then reapply 85,000 times throughout the day). I can't get enough.
That's it! At night I play up my eyes more and wear Revlon's ColorStay lipstick in Prized Peach.
Let me know what products you can't live without so that I can waste time in Target checking them out.

I'm obsessed with Burt's Bees!! Love it!

This Looks Good On You
I love your routine! I can't live with out my Rimmel concealer/highlighter. My undereye area is dark (genetics, oy), so it really helps to conceal and highlight at the same time. I think the only other drugstore item I've been using like crazy is my Revlon brow pencil. I use the pencil that comes with a matching gel. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love a simple make-up routine! Mine is super low key. I always have bags under my eyes, so I've tried out a few different liquid and mousse concealers. I love Burts Bees products, but I've never tried their tinted balm, so maybe I'll have to check that out soon. I also need to checkout Revlon's ColorStay lipstick for my wedding.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend!! :)
Great tutorial. I've heard great things about Nars blushes. I need to try one soon!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously don't need ANY makeup...your skin is flawless!
ReplyDeleteGood grief you are gorgeous! You don't even need makeup at all! Dang, I am super jealous! But thanks for sharing your tips, I will have to check out that lip balm!
ReplyDeleteLike the others have said, you don't even need makeup AT ALL! You are so gorgeous without it!

I love that your eye lid colour is nectar and cinnamon toast! SO CUTE! Love the simple routine, very similar to mine. (: Except that I've been trying to hunt down a light SPF/moisturizer and I haven't! Burt's bee's is def the best - I just ran out mine...You've given me some inspiration to try the tinted kind though! Thanks!

I keep my day to day makeup pretty simple as well. Just concealer, blush, mascara and powder most days. I love the little headband you used to keep your hair out of your face while doing makeup!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! My new love is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (whew, had to look that up). They stay on foreverrrr but your lips still feel really soft.
ReplyDeleteI love CoverGirl mascara, that is my all time favorite brand! And I love Burts Bees too!
ReplyDeleteClinique high impact mascara! I have used it like for 8 years already and still love it (it gets removed with warm water when I shower and I don't use make up remover at all).
ReplyDeleteanyway, I loved that post! you should definitely make similar posts more often when you can.

You have lovely skin!
ReplyDeletei love simple make up routines! you should waste time checking out physician's formula talc-free mineral powder. i've never been a foundation girl, so this powder is fantastic for being light and evening out skin tone at the same time. it's perfect! also, i'm so with you on burt's bees. i'm probably more at the 95 000 mark for re applying.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I love seeing other people's makeup routines. Your skin is amazing even before you apply any makeup. Lucky! And the final result is so fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love Burt's Bees tinted lip balm. Rose suits my fair skin and brown hair the best. - Leah, leahwise.com, wisestyle.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteI've always loved your super-natural look. I would've thought you don't wear any at all if it wasn't for your glowing cheeks. I'm way more interested in your hair routine, though!
ReplyDeleteI love Burt Bee's products and especially the face wipes for night time. I love the way it makes my face feel so fresh. But a new product I am totally loving is the garnier nutrisse BB cream, it's so light and leaves my skin with a matte finish alllll day. Totally love that. :)
ReplyDeleteHave you tried any facial make from Target that you would recommend?
I love your blog!
I love how natural your makeup is, especially with letting the freckles come through! You have such pretty freckles. And I love Burt's Bees. You're so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Simple and natural is my goal too. You always look so pretty!

beautiful!! So natural and pretty!!
ReplyDeleteRevlon Colorstay foundation! I don't recommend it for you because it's heavy coverage and it'd cover up all your adorable freckles, but it's super long lasting and makes my skin flawless!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and natural! I have been meaning to try Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer! Right now I use Neutrogenia Healthy Skin liquid foundation because it has SPF 20 in it and is easy! I also really like the Etsy shop Madison Street Beauty for awesome natural looking eye shadows (bare coral is my favorite!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday

I love the play by play pictures. I use Burt's Bees also. The tinting is perfect for a low-key look.

I have to say I am in love with red hair + freckles. I love how your make up doesnt cover the pretty freckles up. ( I once got into a huge argument with a friend who thought that they should be hidden with foundation etc.) But you are utterly stunning with and without make-up.
ReplyDeleteI am however amused by the idea of adding Cinnamon Toast to your lips. As far as I know that's a rather delicious breakfast cereal I like to buy! :P

I'm so jealous that you are so pretty with so little make up. I have super light eyelashes and eyebrows so I spend too much time trying to combat that :(
ReplyDeleteI can't get enough of Burt's Bees too Megan! You look so pretty with or without make up!

You are sooooo naturally pretty!!! I wouldn't dare show my face without makeup...I look like I just got run over by a car loll!!! Light makeup is definitely the way to go:)!
ReplyDeleteGirl...I wish I was a redhead. Ha, being a brunette is so boring. :/
ReplyDeleteBut hey, we all work with what we've got!
I pretty much just do eye makeup for my routine. Liquid eyeliner, mascara, and some lip gloss (lip tint if I'm feeling extra bold lol) and I'm set for the day.

You are so beautiful... truly a natural beauty, and for that I am jealous!!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen/tried the Caviar Eye Sticks from Laura Mercier? I got one in a swag bag from a spring preview fashion show, and I want to marry it. It is smooth and fool-proof and so pretty... I've been wearing it in my last few posts. I want every color they have but they are $24 a pop. Dammit!
I'm a fellow redhead and now I think I *need* Luster I also 100% recommend Douceur by Nars incredible on fair skin xx
ReplyDeleteLove this look! But I really think u do not need any make up ^^

WOW , I love! Your skin is flawless :)
ReplyDeleteI love Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. I'm a freckle-y girl myself (way less than you, but still freckled all the same) and I love that it evens out my skin tone but doesn't cover my freckles. It feels light, too.
ReplyDeleteLove simple routines. I'll have to try that tinted moisturizer
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love my Clarisonic Mia, I notice such a huge difference in my skin if I go a few days without it. Thanks for sharing your routine!

Here&Now
I'm so happy that you posted this, you always looks so lovely and bright-eyed, I was pretty curious as to what beauty/makeup routine you used. I always have trouble making me eyes look "awake" but it's such a fine line towards looking too dark so I'm going to have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Do you like the Clarisonic Mia...good investment?

The Other Side of Gray
YES YES YES, a million times YES. I was skeptical about it at first, but I've been using mine since Christmas and I honestly see a difference in my skin. It's so much softer and just feels way cleaner. Highly recommend :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't, but I love anything Laura Mercier so I'm sure I would love the eye sticks! Yeah, a bit pricey - but definitely worth it for good makeup :)
ReplyDeleteI use their face wipes for night too! Gotta love Burt's Bees :)
ReplyDeleteAs for facial makeup from Target, I haven't tried anything but I'm sure you can find something awesome - they have so many options!
Thanks, Jessica :)
This is so great - I am always looking for ways to improve my makeup routine! :) I use tinted moisturizer as well but will add applying with a sponge!

Gosh, your skin is just so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your simple makeup routine! I'm all about keeping it simple and natural, too. I'm going to have to give that Lavanilla healthy sunscreen a go; I love their healthy deodorant.
